Equilibria’s Approach to Change

Equilibria’s understanding of the inner dynamics of change allows us to work successfully with clients to help them meet the challenges they face at every level. Our approach to any client situation is comprised of three steps:

55Establish a meaningful relationship

55Gain insight into current challenges; individual and organizational requirements; and the change dynamic

55Transform the basis on which to move into the future, identifying opportunities for leadership and establishing new organiza-tional priorities

In the end, the ease with which the people in the organization can adjust to change and the degree to which the organization can minimize disruption will determine the strength of commitment to moving ahead. To achieve this goal, organizational planning and employee acceptance must occur in tandem.

Changing How We Change

There is no escaping change. It can be exhilarating and at the same time exhausting. Sometimes change is planned, at other times it takes us by surprise. Either way, the way in which organizations address change often makes a critical difference between success and failure—riding the leading edge of a wave of change or just hanging on.

Equilibria works from a four-fold under-standing of change:

Types of Organizational Change
Consulting Strategy Change
Approach Identity Stage Transition
Services Alignment Agility
Transition Performance
Leadership

Each type of change presents increasing complexity and requires a deeper grasp of human and organizational relationships, from technical and political to psychological and moral. Each also demands a different leadership style to successfully navigate.

Equilibria’s approach to change encompasses three necessary components:

55Change leadership: developing a vision of the future, communicating direction in words and deeds, and energizing people to overcome obstacles to change

55Change management: making structural and systemic corrections to match the changing requirements, and assisting employees in adapting their work practices to align with the new goals and objectives associated with the change

55Transition advocacy: supporting individuals and groups in understanding and working with the psychological dimensions of change, enabling them to move forward with more confidence and commitment

Equilibria will work with you to tailor an appropriate intervention suited to your unique needs and circumstances.

Please see the four sections on change for additional information about particular change dynamics and the Equilibria approach to each.
